Challenge 6.1: What is the difference between Copyright and Creative Commons?

Copyright law gives creators certain kinds of control over their creative work. If people want to use copyrighted work, they often have to ask for permission from the creator. Creative Commons works within copyright law. It allows creators to grant permission to everyone in the world to use their work in certain ways.

  2. Time to go on an image hunt and examine the licensing. Watch the video to learn how to use Google's advanced search to find an image and the licensing permission. See the other image resources below. Then find two images you might want to add to your website and complete slide 52.

Challenge 6.2: How do you give attribution and share your work?

  1. See if you can use existing code from websites to create your web pages. You are going to learn how to create a list. Explore the web pages below and decide if you can use their code. Complete slide 53.

  2. Create a list of resources you used that you should give attribution to on your website on slide 54. Use the resources above to help you add the list to your website. Here is help from w3 schools to add a link.
  3. Advanced (optional): Watch the video to see how you can start sharing your web site work. Scroll to the bottom of my web page to see my Creative Commons license. Go to the Creative Commons License Chooser.Answer the questions on how you want to share your website. Scroll down to copy the html code and complete slide 55.

Challenge 6.3: What other media do you want to add to your webpage?

  1. Add more images and text to your website. See the resources below to add videos and maps. Then complete slide 56.
  2. Go to the flipgrid discussion to help each other debug code and earn your superhero teammate points.


Challenge 6.4 Improve and Review

Just because something works doesn't mean that it can't be improved.
  1. Give feedback to help other's improve and get feedback to improve your website. Think about style, web accessibility, grammar errors, code erros, giving credit when giving feedback.

    Open your website up in full screen and copy the web address. Do not copy the web address of your code. Log into flipgrid to give and get feedback.

    First Post:

    1. Show your website in fullscreen
    2. Create a screencast showing and explaining your website
    3. Add your selfie
    4. Add the link to your website, do not add the link to your code.

    Second Reply to your team's posts that include

    1. At least one thing you like best about the page
    2. At least one thing that could be improved

  2. Review your website and look at your feedback. decide what changes you want to make. Complete slides 57 and 58

Final Challenge:

Kingpin has entered the dark web and is trying to take down the World Wide Web. Shuri needs a secret code to stop him. Test your web designer skills to help crack the code.
